I've never been a fan of Jone's gourmet flavored soda, I think the only
one in the entire collection of odd flavors I liked was their cane cola,
however whenever I come across something catchy, or unique I buy it up
just to say I tried it.
This was basically how Jelly Belly, Very Cherry, Gourmet Soda made its
way into my refrigerator. The deep near neon colored red caught my eye
first, the Jelly Belly jelly bean mascot caught my eye next, and then
the flavor of course set my heart fluttering. I loved Very Cherry Jelly
Belly Jelly Beans alone, so I was naturally curious as to how well Jelly
Belly managed to capture the raw delicious flavor of the bean and
turned it into a soda.
Would it be a good flavor as soda, or one that made my gut ache?
The Flavor:
Very Cherry Gourmet Soda by Jelly Belly does have a near replicated
flavor to the original jelly bean flavor, but it lacks in the sour
department, as the very cherry beans have a more fruitful and sour ring
to them. Not too sour, but a perfect lip smacking sour.
The Very Cherry Gourmet Soda lacks that zing, but it is not a bad soda
flavor at all. It's just not one I would buy again and again, or one I
would get hooked to and crave. Fun to try yes, but addicting, no.
The cherry flavor is almost like cherry 7UP, but with a more potent
cherry flavoring to it. The carbonation mixes well with the high cherry
notes and creates a nice mix or perfect harmony of cherry and
carbonation.
Overall:
Jelly Belly Very Cherry Gourmet Soda is one you will definitely want
to try, especially if you are a fan of the very cherry flavored jelly
beans, or if you are a fan of Jelly Belly in general. It would also make
for a neat little holiday stocking stuffer for those whom you know who
like Jelly Belly.
Finding It:
I found this particular flavored soda at a local Marshall's for $3.99
for a 4 pack. The price is decent for what you get, and the soda is not
too bad either.
